The Minitek Pwr 3.0 series from Amphenol ICC (formerly FCI) is a 3.00 mm pitch high-current connector system designed for power delivery in space-constrained PCB layouts. Unlike signal-grade 2.54 mm headers that top out at 3 A per contact, every position in this series carries up to 5 A — enough to drive motors, charge battery packs, or feed a voltage regulator module without doubling up pins.
Each connector pair mates a vertical or right-angle header (soldered to the main board) with a crimp housing or receptacle. The dual-beam box contact design gives you four points of mechanical contact per circuit, which matters when your assembly sees vibration or thermal cycling. Amphenol ships these with tin or gold plating; gold holds up better in high-mating-cycle situations but costs more, so the choice depends on whether you are building a permanent backplane connection or a field-replaceable module.
Compared to Molex Micro-Fit 3.0, the Minitek Pwr 3.0 crimp terminal uses a slightly different lance design that some assembly houses find easier to insert by hand. The housing polarization and keying options are comparable between the two, but Amphenol tends to keep the Minitek Pwr family in stock with shorter lead times in Asia-Pacific distribution channels.

Start with the mechanical envelope. If your power board plugs in vertically from above, you need a vertical header and a straight crimp housing. If the mating direction is horizontal, a right-angle header saves you a daughtercard. Check your stack height — the standard header post length is 3.8 mm above the PCB, but extended posts go to 6.5 mm for thicker boards or standoff clearance.
Then choose plating. For a one-time factory connection that stays mated for the product's life, tin plating works and costs about 30–40 % less. If your field techs will unplug and replug the connector during service, pay the premium for 15 μ" or 30 μ" gold. Gold also makes sense in high-humidity environments where tin-whisker growth on unmated contacts could become a reliability issue.
Wire gauge dictates the crimp terminal part number. The series splits into two terminal sizes: the standard terminal handles AWG 22–30, and the high-current terminal takes AWG 18–20. Get this wrong and your harness vendor will call you before the first prototype run. Keying. Dual-row housings support up to four polarization keying options. If your enclosure has multiple identical-looking connectors within arm's reach of each other, use different keying codes to make mis-mating mechanically impossible.
