What the B8PS-VH Is
The B8PS-VH is a single-row, 8-position shrouded header in JST's VH series — a board-to-cable connector family built around a 0.156 inch (3.96 mm) pitch and a locking ramp that snaps into the matching socket housing to resist vibration pull-out. Contact material is brass with tin-lead plating on both the mating interface and the solder tail; the insulator is natural polyamide (PA66, Nylon 6/6) rated UL94 V-0. Rated 10 A per circuit at 250 V, the 8-position header carries individual power branches in industrial automation equipment without derating the contact below its current limit at the operating temperature range. The shroud on one wall (1-wall shrouding) keys orientation and prevents the header from being inserted backwards into the VH socket housing. Right-angle through-hole termination routes the board footprint parallel to the PCB surface — common in mid-panel board-to-cable entry points where cable dress runs horizontal to the board.
Where It Lives in a System
Board-to-cable interconnects at this pitch and current rating show up in industrial automation panels, power supplies, and instrumentation where individual circuit branches need to exit the PCB to a cable harness or terminal block. The 0.335 inch (8.51 mm) insulation height gives the shroud adequate standoff from the board surface, and the square contact pins accept the matching VH socket's spring-beam mates cleanly. Operating range is -25 °C to 85 °C — suitable for enclosed equipment interiors but not for direct panel-mount or户外 environments without additional sealing. The locking ramp on the header body is the primary retention feature; there is no separate lock tab or secondary latch on this member.
