RF interconnect — RP-SMA jack for board-edge launch
The threaded coupling gives a vibration-resistant mate — the nut torques down against the panel or mating jack, holding the centre contact alignment steady across the band.
The 18 GHz max frequency covers the full Wi-Fi 6E and lower mmWave bands; above that the VSWR rises and the signal degrades. Gold plating on the centre contact resists corrosion and maintains consistent contact resistance over repeated mating cycles — important in field-serviceable gear.
Construction and termination
The body is machined brass with a gold housing colour — the gold finish gives a low-resistance ground path and resists oxidation. The centre contact is also brass with gold plating. Both the shield and centre contact terminate by solder, which is the standard method for through-hole RF connectors — the solder fillet at the PCB anchors the ground plane and the centre pin in one reflow or hand-solder step.
