SC Simplex Multimode Plug for Field Termination
The Molex 1060320960 is an SC simplex plug designed for multimode fiber with a 127µm cladding diameter. It uses a ceramic ferrule for stable optical alignment and low insertion loss in data center, premises, and industrial network cabling. The beige housing and boot follow TIA-568 color coding for multimode identification. Snap-in fastening provides positive retention in the adapter without tools.
Cable Fit and Strain Relief
This plug accepts cable diameters of 1.6mm or 2.0mm, covering common 900µm buffered fiber and 1.6/2.0mm jacketed simplex cable. The integral strain relief grips the cable jacket to transfer pull loads away from the ferrule. The tunable feature allows the connector body to be rotated relative to the ferrule during termination to minimize insertion loss by aligning the fiber core with the ferrule bore eccentricity.
The housing is molded from polybutylene terephthalate (PBT), a dimensionally stable thermoplastic that resists creep in the snap-in latch. The ferrule is ceramic — the industry standard for multimode SC connectors, providing the hardness and concentricity needed for repeatable low-loss matings. The connector is free-hanging (in-line) with no flange or panel-mount hardware, intended for cable assembly termination.
