What it is and where it sits in the Eurostyle 39700 series
The Molex 397000403 is the 3-circuit member of the Eurostyle 39700 family — a gray, through-hole terminal block with a 5.00 mm pitch and a 45-degree (135-degree from board) entry angle. The housing is polyamide (PA66, Nylon 6/6), the clamp is stainless steel, and the contacts are tin-plated brass. Rated 10 A per circuit at 300 V, it accepts 14–26 AWG solid or stranded wire via a screwless push-button clamp mechanism. Operating range is -40 to 105 °C.
Screwless push-button clamp — what the mechanism means in practice
The push-button clamp eliminates the rising-cage screw and allows tool-free wire insertion: push the orange button, feed the conductor, release. The stainless clamp body maintains spring tension across thermal cycles, so the wire grip does not relax at elevated temperature the way a plain steel cage can. Tin plating on the brass contact bar resists oxidation at the wire interface and is appropriate for the signal and moderate-power distribution this series is built for — no gold plating, which would be over-specified at 10 A per circuit.
