Design Engineering Note
The Molex 430451221 is a 12-circuit, dual-row header from the Micro-Fit 3.0 43045 series, designed for board-to-wire power interconnects. It uses a 3.00 mm pitch, right-angle through-hole mounting, and a shrouded 4-wall housing with a locking ramp for secure mating. The tin-plated male pins are rated 8 A per circuit at 600 V, making this a mid-current power header suited for automotive, industrial, and telecom harness assemblies. The 60.0 µin tin mating finish is thick enough for repeated mating in a fixed harness but not for high-cycle field-service applications — gold-plated siblings in the same series would be a better fit for frequent disconnect duty. The board lock feature holds the header in place during wave solder, preventing skew from cable strain after assembly.
Mating and Termination
This header mates with Micro-Fit 3.0 receptacle housings (e.g., the 43025 series) that accept 20–24 AWG crimp terminals. The locking ramp on the header engages the receptacle latch for vibration-resistant retention. The through-hole solder tails are 0.125" long, fitting standard PCB thicknesses.
