Power blade at the board edge
The Molex 782291002 is the 2-position member of the GbX I-Trac 78229 series — a right-angle, board-edge male-blade header built for dual power-rail delivery at 40 A per circuit. The 250 V rating covers the standard distribution bus voltage in most industrial and telecom equipment. Gold-over-nickel plating at 30.0 µin (0.76 µm) gives the contact interface the durability to survive extended mating cycles without the oxidation fretting that tin-plated power contacts pick up under vibration. Press-fit tails pass through the PCB and are reflown into plated through-holes — no solder fill needed, which means lower insertion resistance at the joint and a connection that holds under thermal cycling without a cold joint opening up. The right-angle orientation seats the mated connector perpendicular to the board edge; the I-Trac Hold Down Left feature is the mechanical latch that locks the mating receptacle against the blade array so it cannot walk free under shock or vibration. The board guide feature on the housing seats the mating half before the pins engage, preventing canting damage during blind mate.
Sourcing posture
Listed Active with ROHS3 Compliant status — the series is in normal production and sourced to BOM quantity via RFQ. No official successor order code for this part. The series, color, and I-Trac hold-down orientation uniquely define the fit — confirm the left-hand hold-down position matches the receptacle before committing to a substitute from the same GbX I-Trac 78229 family.
