Product details

2.92mm Receptacle for 40 GHz Signal Paths

The Hirose HK-R-SR2-1 is a 2.92mm receptacle, female socket, designed for precision microwave interconnects up to 40 GHz. The threaded fastening and flange mount keep the connection stable under vibration, while the compression termination eliminates soldering variability at the board interface.

40 GHz vs Standard SMA — What Changes

A standard SMA connector is specified to 18 GHz; beyond that, mode propagation and air-gap tolerances degrade the signal. The 2.92mm interface (also called K connector) uses a 2.92 mm outer conductor diameter and an air dielectric that supports a clean TEM mode up to 40 GHz. The HK-R-SR2-1 shares the same 1/4-36 thread as SMA, so it mates physically with SMA jacks, but the bead geometry and launch are tuned for 40 GHz — an SMA jack will limit the system to 18 GHz regardless of what is on the other side.

Frequently asked questions

Is HK-R-SR2-1 suitable for 40 GHz applications?

Yes, the HK-R-SR2-1 is rated to 40 GHz maximum frequency with a 50 Ohm impedance, making it suitable for millimeter-wave test, radar, and high-speed data systems.
