What the B02P-VL is
The JST B02P-VL is the 2-circuit member of the VL series, a shrouded board-to-cable header rated 600 V at 20 A per position at 6.20 mm pitch. The full 4-wall shroud encloses all four sides of the contact area and is paired with a latch-holder fastening type — together they deliver polarisation and a positive retention that a bare friction-fit header cannot match. Tin plating runs across both the mating face and the solder tail; the square pin cross-section seats into the matching JST VL socket housing and terminates via through-hole solder.
Ratings that decide the fit
The 600 V rating covers AC mains distribution and motor drive intermediate bus work. The 20 A per circuit handles power bus duty; for a 2-position header that means 2 × 20 A carried independently. The mated stacking height sits at 29.2 mm and the insulation height at 16.40 mm — check the board z-height budget against these two values before committing. The -25°C to 90°C operating range is the envelope for panel or enclosure mounting; the PA66 nylon insulator carries a UL94 V-0 flammability rating that satisfies most industrial enclosure requirements. Tin-on-tin plating is fully re-workable with a standard soldering iron and accepts reflow or wave assembly, but it delivers lower mating-cycle durability than gold — the VL series is intended for permanent or low-cycle power interconnects, not for repeated field reconnection.
