Single-row power header with friction lock
The 1718130006 is a 6-position, single-row header from the Molex KK396 series, pitched at 0.156" (3.96mm) — wider than typical signal headers, which suits it for moderate current distribution or power-plus-signal in a single row. It uses a friction lock to keep the mating housing seated under vibration — a practical advantage in automotive, industrial, or telecom gear where a loose connector means a field call.
Footprint and routing fit
Through-hole mounting with a 0.093" (2.35mm) post length and 0.448" (11.38mm) mating pin length gives a total contact length of 0.671" (17.05mm). The 0.446" (11.33mm) insulation height means the shroud stands proud of the board, which helps guide the mating housing home. The shroud is a single-wall design — it covers the back of the pin row but leaves the sides exposed. That saves board space compared to a fully shrouded header, but the mating housing must be aligned carefully during blind-mate assembly.
