Quickie 26-position shrouded header — what it is and where it fits
The FCI 65863-029LF is the 26-circuit member of the Quickie series — a dual-row 2.54 mm pitch header built for board-to-cable interconnects where the cable-side housing plugs onto a through-hole post field. The four-wall shroud captures the matching receptacle and the keying slot polarization key keeps the pair oriented in the harness. Push-pull fastening means the housing snaps in and stays without a jack screw or latch tab. Contact material is phosphor bronze, and the plating split is what drives the fit decision: the mating side carries 30 µin of gold (or Gold GXT) for repeatable engagement cycles, while the post side — the solder interface — is 100 µin of tin for solderability and creep resistance. The post extends 0.675" below the board surface, so the through-hole pad stack needs to clear that length without fracturing trace lands on thermal cycling.
What the key ratings mean for your BOM line
UL94 V-0 thermoplastic is standard for industrial and instrumentation applications — the housing will not propagate flame if the fault current arcs through the contacts. The tin post finish at 100 µin is thick enough for wave or hand-solder assembly without the joint going brittle, but do not expect the post to survive more than a handful of rework cycles without the plating lifting. All 26 positions are loaded — no open slots to account for in the position map. The square pin cross-section seats positively in a round or square hole; if your board fab uses plated-through round holes, the square pin fills the barrel and the wipe during insertion is minimal.
