What it is
The DCO8W8P300H40LF is an 8-position D-Sub Combo plug in the DW series, carrying eight dedicated power contacts rated 40 A per circuit at 300 V. Gold-over-brass contacts on a through-hole solder termination; the steel shell is nickel-plated with board-lock flanges (4-40 UNC) that ground the connector at the panel face through the flange's integral grounding indents. UL94 V-0 rated dielectric, operating from -55°C to 125°C.
Position count and power density
Eight dedicated power contacts is the key differentiator against every other member of the DW series. The 7-position DAO7W2P300H30LF in the same series tops out at 7.5 A and splits its positions between signal and power — it is not a power-density peer. The DEL2V2P93C5G40LF and DEV2V2P500G30LF both carry the same 40 A rating as this plug but limit the power section to 2 positions. If the BOM calls for eight discrete 40 A circuits in one D-Sub shell, this is the only DW-series member that delivers it.
Shell size and panel fit
The DCO8W8 uses shell size 4 (layout DC, C). The DAO7W2P300H30LF is shell size 2 (layout DA, A) — a different panel cutout. These are not direct panel swaps without rework. Confirm the existing cutout and fastener pattern before committing the DCO8W8 to a panel already populated with a size-2 shell.
