What this connector is
The Amphenol FCI 87052-428HLF is the 28-position member of the BERGSTIK II dual-row header series — a 0.100" (2.54mm) pitch unshrouded male pin header sized for board-to-board interconnection at signal and low-power levels. All 28 positions are loaded, terminated via through-hole solder, and carry square male contacts in phosphor bronze with tin plating on both the mating face and the solder tail at 100.0 µin (2.54 µm) thickness. The push-pull fastening relies on contact friction alone — there is no locking latch or polarizing shroud (: Unshrouded), so mis-mate protection depends on the board layout or a separate retainer. The insulation body is black and rated UL94 V-0.
Typical environments and what to watch
The 0.100" pitch BERGSTIK II header family is common in industrial control cards, instrumentation, and automotive sub-assemblies where a compact through-hole board-to-board interconnect is needed. The UL94 V-0 rating makes it acceptable for equipment enclosures with flame-retardant requirements. The unshrouded, push-pull design is the main caveat — without a locking tab or polarization key it is not suited to applications with significant vibration or where accidental unmating is a risk. For those scenarios a latched or shrouded variant in the same 2.54mm pitch family is the move.
