What this connector is
The Amphenol FCI 87900-428HLF is the 28-circuit member of the BERGSTIK II board-to-board header series, built on a dual-row 0.100-inch (2.54 mm) pitch grid. It terminates via through-hole solder pins and uses a push-pull fastening type — the mating half slots in and pulls positively home, without threaded hardware. All 28 positions are loaded, meaning every circuit is populated and available. The contact finish is 100 µin (2.54 µm) tin on both the mating face and the solder post, applied to a phosphor bronze base, and the black PA housing carries a UL94 V-0 flammability rating.
How it fits the board
The dual-row layout at 0.100-inch (2.54 mm) row spacing and 0.100-inch mating pitch creates a uniform grid — the square contact pin seats cleanly in a round PTH barrel and resists rotation during placement.
Ratings that drive the selection
Rated 5 A per contact at up to 110 V — the voltage ceiling limits this connector to signal and low-level power at board level, not wiring-harness mains.
Where it is used
BERGSTIK II is a standard board-to-board header series used across industrial automation, communications infrastructure, and instrumentation — anywhere a through-hole dual-row header at 0.100-inch pitch provides a reliable perpendicular connection between a PCB and a daughter card, mid-plane, or wire-to-board daughter. The unshrouded header accepts any matching BERGSTIK II receptacle housing or can mate bare to a daughter card header. The 28-position count covers mid-density signal paths; a 28-circuit board-to-board link is common for parallel data buses, discrete signal multiplexing, or power distribution to a secondary PCB.
