Cable Fit and Termination — What Cable Does It Work With?
This plug is dimensioned for RG-58 plenum, 122, Belden 88240, and 89907 cable groups — the most common 50 Ohm thin coax types used in low-loss indoor runs and patch cords. The shield is crimped via the included ferrule; the centre contact uses a push-on termination, which means no solder pot to fill. For a harness builder, this is a clean, repeatable crimp process — as long as the cable jacket OD falls within the ferrule range for RG-58, the assembly is straightforward.
Construction and RF Performance
The body is zinc die cast with a nickel finish — standard for BNC where corrosion resistance in indoor environments is sufficient. The centre pin is brass with gold plating, which keeps contact resistance low over the 500-cycle life. Dielectric is polyoxymethylene (POM) acetal, a stable material for the 50 Ohm impedance match up to 4 GHz. Insertion loss is specified at 0.2 dB, which is typical for a well-made BNC interface at these frequencies.
