The 2 GHz max frequency is the usable bandwidth for this TNC interface — above that, the VSWR rises and the connector stops behaving as a controlled-impedance path. In practice, this covers most cellular, ISM-band, and GPS applications, but not higher-frequency microwave links. The 500 mating cycles are driven by the gold-over-nickel plating on the beryllium copper center contact; tin-plated RF connectors typically spec 100–200 cycles. If the connector is going into a one-time install (base station antenna feed), the cycle life is generous margin.
