50 Ohm BNC Bulkhead Jack for RG-178/196 — Kit Includes Hardware
The 031-6843: It is part of the 031-68 series and comes as a complete kit: 1 connector, 1 crimp contact, 1 ferrule, 1 lockwasher, and 1 nut — five pieces total in bulk packaging. Rated to 4 GHz maximum frequency, it uses a bayonet lock for fast mating and is specified for 500 mating cycles.
The 4 GHz maximum frequency covers common bands for instrumentation, Wi-Fi (2.4 GHz), and lower ISM bands, but it is below the 6 GHz ceiling of some newer BNC variants. For designs that push past 4 GHz, this connector is not the right choice; stay within the rated bandwidth to keep VSWR under control.
Cable Group and Crimp Termination — RG-178/196 Only
This connector is specifically designed for RG-178, 178A, 178B, 196, 196A, and M17/93-RG178 cables. The kit includes the contact and ferrule, so you have everything needed for one termination. If your cable is outside this group (e.g., RG-58, RG-174), this connector will not crimp correctly; use the Amphenol part for the matching cable group.
Panel Mount with Bulkhead Hardware — Front-Side Nut
The mounting feature is bulkhead with front-side nut, meaning the connector body passes through the panel from the front and is secured by a nut from the rear. The kit includes the lockwasher and nut, so no additional hardware is needed for a standard panel installation. The bayonet lock provides quick connect/disconnect — useful for test equipment or field-deployable systems where frequent reconnection is expected. The 500 mating cycle rating supports repeated field service without contact degradation.
