It is the male pin (plug) half of the mini-BNC interface, mating with a standard mini-BNC jack. The 75 Ohm impedance matches video distribution and broadcast equipment where 75 Ohm coax is standard. The 1 GHz frequency ceiling covers analog video and most digital video signals up to HD-SDI.

This plug accepts RG-122, RG-180A, RG-180B, RG-195, Belden 1855, and Belden 1865A cables. The phosphor bronze body with nickel finish provides corrosion resistance in indoor equipment racks.
