The 500 mating cycles, backed by gold-on-gold contacts (centre contact gold-plated beryllium copper, body gold-plated brass), mean the connector survives repeated reconnections in field-test or patch-panel duty without the centre contact fretting or losing return loss.
Termination and Field Fit
On site, you can re-pin it with a soldering iron and a basic kit — no special crimp tool needed — so it crosses into an existing 75 Ohm harness if the cable is terminated with a compatible BNC HD plug.
