HD-BNC™ Plug for RG-174/316 — 6 GHz, 50 Ohm, Bayonet Lock
The 034-5071: It terminates RG-174, RG-188, RG-188A, RG-316, and M17/119-RG174 cables — a common set for test leads, patch cables, and instrumentation harnesses. The HD-BNC body is smaller than a standard BNC, so it fits tighter panel layouts without sacrificing the 50 Ohm impedance path.
Cable Fit and Termination — Solder Center, Crimp Braid
This plug accepts RG-174, RG-188, RG-188A, RG-316, and M17/119-RG174 — all 0.100-inch-diameter class cables with a solid or stranded center conductor. The center pin is soldered (phosphor bronze, gold-plated), and the shield braid is crimped using a standard hex die for the ferrule OD. The dielectric is PTFE, so the center conductor stays centered during soldering and the impedance holds through the transition. If your reel has RG-58 or RG-59, this is the wrong body — match the cable group before you cut.
RF Performance and Mechanical Life
Rated to 6 GHz, the 034-5071 covers the full L-band through C-band for many RF test and broadcast applications — well beyond the 4 GHz ceiling of a standard BNC. The 500 mating cycles mean this plug holds up in patch-panel or field-test use where connectors get swapped daily.
