UHF Plug for RG-58 Coax — What This Connector Does
The 083-58DCP-2RFX: It uses a threaded coupling nut for a vibration-resistant mate and a crimp-on ferrule for shield termination. Rated to 300 MHz and 500 V, this is a workhorse connector for two-way radio, antenna feeds, and test equipment where the signal path is UHF-band and the impedance match is non-constant — the UHF style trades controlled impedance for ruggedness and ease of termination.
This plug accepts RG-58, 58A, 58B, 58C, 141, 303, LMR-195, Belden B7806A, and 9907 — the common 50-ohm-ish flexible coax family.
Duty and Environment
Body is brass with nickel finish; centre contact is brass with silver plating — silver gives good conductivity at RF but tarnishes over time, so it's best kept in dry indoor or sealed environments.
