UHF Plug for RG-58 — 300 MHz Ceiling, Not a 50-Ohm Connector
The Amphenol RF 083-58SCP-RFX is a UHF-series plug, male pin, designed for RG-58 class cables (RG-58, 58A, 58B, 58C, 141, 303, LMR-195, Belden B7806A, 9907). Rated to 300 MHz maximum and 500 V, this is a non-constant impedance connector — it is not a 50-Ohm RF line. The threaded coupling provides a secure mate, and the silver-plated brass center contact handles 500 mating cycles.
Cable Fit and Termination — RG-58 Family, Crimp or Solder
This plug accepts RG-58, 58A, 58B, 58C, 141, 303, LMR-195, Belden B7806A, and 9907 cables. The center contact can be crimped or soldered; the shield termination is crimp-only via the included ferrule.
500 Mating Cycles — Silver Plating, Field-Service Life
The silver center contact plating provides good conductivity at RF frequencies but is softer than gold; in corrosive or salt-spray environments, the silver may tarnish over time, increasing contact resistance. For permanent outdoor installations, consider a gold-plated variant or weatherproofing.
