UHF Plug for RG-8 Class Coax — 083-8SP-1006
The Amphenol 083-8SP-1006 is a UHF-series plug, male pin, designed for free-hanging in-line termination on RG-8 class coaxial cables. It supports cable groups RG-8, 8A, 9, 9A, 9B, 87, 213, 214, 225, 302, and 393 — the common 50-Ohm and 75-Ohm medium-diameter coax used in two-way radio, broadcast, and antenna feeder runs. Rated at 500 V with a maximum frequency of 300 MHz, this is a VHF/UHF interconnect — not a constant-impedance connector like an N or TNC. The non-constant impedance means it's designed for applications where a controlled transmission line isn't required.
The 083-8SP-1006 is crimped onto the cable — both the center pin and the shield braid use separate crimp operations. The shield termination is a standard hex crimp over the braid; the center contact crimp uses the appropriate die set for the pin diameter. This is a field-terminatable connector with no soldering required, making it a practical choice for harness shops and field installations where repeatable termination quality is needed.
