Where a 75 Ohm BNC Belongs — and Where It Does Not
A 75 Ohm BNC is the standard interface for composite video (SDI), analogue CCTV, and broadcast reference signals. It mates with any 75 Ohm BNC plug — typically on RG59, RG6, or Belden 1694A coaxial cable. Do not use this connector in a 50 Ohm RF path — the impedance mismatch will cause reflections and insertion loss above a few hundred MHz. For 50 Ohm BNC applications, look for the same physical interface with a 50 Ohm dielectric and centre contact geometry.
The centre contact terminates by soldering the signal pin to the PCB trace. No crimp tool is needed for the connector itself — the cable termination happens on the mating BNC plug.
