What Ships in the Kit — and What Doesn't
The 122370RP kit includes six pieces: one RP-TNC jack body, one crimp centre contact, one crimp ferrule, one panel gasket, one lockwasher, and one mounting nut. The gasket and lockwasher are specific to the bulkhead front-side-nut mounting feature — the gasket seals the panel cutout against moisture ingress, and the lockwasher prevents the nut from backing off under vibration. What is not in the kit is the mating plug: this jack mates with a standard TNC plug (male pin or female socket depending on polarity), but because it is an RP-TNC jack, the centre contact is a male pin, so the mating plug must be an RP-TNC plug with a female socket centre contact. Build-to-print shops should confirm the mating half order code separately.
Cable Group and Termination — Crimp for RG-178/196
The cable group — RG-178, 178A, 178B, 196, 196A, M17/93-RG178 — covers the most common 50 Ohm miniature coax cables with a solid or stranded centre conductor and a single braid shield. The crimp ferrule compresses over the braid and jacket; the centre contact crimps onto the centre conductor. For the harness builder, the critical prep dimension is the strip length — the centre conductor must protrude exactly to the contact shoulder, and the braid must be cleanly trimmed to avoid shorting to the body. The nickel-plated brass body and gold-plated centre contact keep corrosion at bay in humid or salt-spray environments.
