RF Connector Identity and Interface
The RP-SMA interface swaps genders: the centre contact is a socket instead of a pin, while the outer thread remains the same 1/4-36 UNS as standard SMA. This prevents accidental mating with standard SMA jacks and is common in Wi-Fi access points, antenna ports, and test equipment where the designer wants to keep the radiating element's centre pin recessed. The connector is rated to 18 GHz and maintains a 50 Ohm characteristic impedance across the band, with a PTFE dielectric supporting the RF path.
