This kit is specified for RG-179 and RG-187 cable — both 75 Ohm, small-diameter coax types common in CCTV, broadcast video, and low-power RF links. The center contact is solder-terminated to the signal conductor; the shield is crimped using the included ferrule. The heat shrink tube covers the crimp area for strain relief and insulation. For RG-59 cable (a larger 75 Ohm coax), this kit is not compatible — the ferrule and center contact dimensions are sized for the smaller RG-179/187 jacket and dielectric.

Insertion loss is rated at 0.3 dB — a low figure that preserves signal strength in video/data links where every dB matters. The 75 Ohm impedance is a fixed design parameter; this connector will not match a 50 Ohm system without an impedance mismatch and return loss penalty.
