The Amphenol RF 142194-75 is an SMB Mini plug, not a BNC — a common mix-up since both use a bayonet-style snap-on coupling but the SMB body is roughly half the diameter. It's a 75 Ohm, right-angle, female-socket plug designed for field termination onto RG-179 or RG-187 coaxial cable. The kit includes four pieces: the connector body, an end cap, a crimp ferrule, and a heat-shrink tube, so you're not hunting for loose parts at the bench.
Cable Prep and Termination Sequence
This plug terminates with a solder contact and a crimp shield. The centre conductor solders into the beryllium copper pin (gold-plated), and the braid gets captured under the crimp ferrule. The heat shrink then seals the cable entry — important for keeping moisture out of the dielectric on outdoor or high-humidity runs.
