25-Position D-Sub Backshell with 90° Exit
The NorComp 165X13439XE is a 25-position, two-piece plastic backshell for standard D-sub connectors. It routes the cable at a 90° angle from the connector axis. This backshell is part of the 165X series and carries a base product number of 165X134. It ships in Bulk packaging, which suits both prototype builds and production runs where you want the same part number across both.
What It Fits and What Comes with It
The 165X13439XE is compatible with both standard 25-position D-sub connectors and high-density 44-position D-sub connectors that use a size B shell. That dual compatibility is useful when your panel has a mix of standard and high-density ports — one backshell stock code covers both. The shell size B is the same footprint used by standard 25-position D-subs, so the backshell aligns with the connector mounting holes without adapters. It ships with 4-40 mating screws already included — no separate fastener line item on the BOM. The assembly hardware and strain relief are also part of the package, so the backshell arrives ready to install onto a terminated connector. The strain relief clamps onto the round cable jacket, taking the pull load off the solder or crimp connections inside the shell.
Build Notes for the Harness Bench
Because this is a two-piece backshell, you terminate the D-sub connector first, then assemble the backshell halves around the cable and screw them together. That sequence is standard for field-terminated cables — you don't need to thread the cable through a one-piece shell before terminating. The 4-40 mating screws thread into the D-sub connector's threaded inserts. The PBT shell handles that without stripping.
