Cable Prep and Termination Checklist
The centre contact crimps onto the signal wire, the ferrule crimps over the braid and jacket, and the body threads onto the assembled contact. The shield termination is crimp, not clamp or solder, so you need the correct hex crimp die for RG-59 double-braid (typically a 0.178-inch or 0.213-inch hex, depending on the ferrule OD). The cable group is specified for RG-59 double-braid and Belden 9231. Double-braid cable has a larger overall diameter than single-braid RG-59 — the ferrule and body are sized for that thicker jacket. Using single-braid RG-59 will leave the ferrule loose and the braid may not be fully captured.
