The zinc die-cast body carries a tin finish, with the shield terminated via a separate crimp barrel — a field-installable design that requires a crimp tool with the correct die for RG-58 or LMR-195.
This jack accepts RG-58, 58A, 58B, 58C, 141, 303, LMR-195, Belden B7806A, and 9907 — the most common 50 Ohm flexible and semi-rigid cables in the 0.195-inch diameter class. The shield and centre contact are both crimp-terminated; the centre pin crimps onto the conductor, and the ferrule compresses over the braid. No soldering required, but the crimp die must match the cable diameter to achieve rated pull-off force and shield continuity. Rated for 100 mating cycles, the gold-on-brass centre contact and latch-lock mechanism are built for the connector's service life in a vehicle or outdoor enclosure — enough for initial assembly plus a few field-service disconnects. The latch lock provides audible feedback on full mate, and the Fakra keying prevents cross-mating with other SMB variants.
