The Amphenol 531-40188 is an F type plug, male pin connector built for 75 Ohm coaxial systems. It mates with standard F type jacks via a threaded coupling nut, giving a secure, vibration-resistant connection on satellite, CATV, and broadband video equipment. The 1 GHz frequency ceiling matches the band used by most cable TV distribution and off-air antenna feeds. This is a crimp-termination kit — the order code delivers the connector body, the centre contact, and the ferrule as a set, so there is no separate sourcing of the crimp ring.

This plug is dimensioned for RG-179, 179A, 179B, 187, 187A, Belden 9221, and M17/94-RG179 cables — all 75 Ohm, small-diameter coax with a solid or stranded centre conductor around 0.7 mm. The crimp ferrule compresses over the cable jacket and braid; the centre contact crimps onto the centre conductor. The PTFE dielectric in the connector matches the cable dielectric, keeping the 75 Ohm impedance continuous through the joint. Using the wrong cable group changes the impedance step and degrades return loss at the connector.
