It is the threaded-mate version of the UHF Mini interface, distinct from the bayonet-lock BNC or the higher-frequency N and SMA types. The connector ships in bulk as two pieces: the plug body and a crimp ferrule. The cable group list — RG-58, 58A, 58B, 58C, 141, 303, LMR-195, Belden B7806A, 9907 — covers the most common 50-Ohm thin-diameter coax types. The shield is crimped; the centre contact can be crimped or soldered, giving the harness builder flexibility on termination method.
The 81-115N-1000 is built for RG-58-class cables with a nominal dielectric diameter around 2.95 mm and a centre conductor of 0.9 mm. The included ferrule crimps over the braid and jacket; the centre contact accepts either a crimp barrel or a solder cup. For LMR-195, which has a solid polyethylene dielectric, the crimp dimensions are the same as RG-58 — verify the jacket outer diameter (5.3 mm nominal) fits the ferrule bore before committing the BOM line. The nickel-plated brass body and gold-plated centre contact provide corrosion resistance and stable contact resistance over repeated mate cycles.
How It Compares to Other 50-Ohm Plugs
The UHF Mini interface is physically smaller than a standard UHF (PL-259) connector and mates with the matching Amphenol RF 83-series receptacles. If your system already uses BNC or N-type, the 81-115N-1000 requires an adapter to cross-connect.
