What the Full Detent Means for Your Assembly
The Full Detent feature gives this jack a defined retention force that a smooth-bore SMPM lacks. The trade-off is that the detent wears — rated 100 mating cycles — so this is a board-level or test-interconnect part, not a daily-connect field cable. Compare with the 925-138J-51P, which uses beryllium copper and rates 500 cycles, or the 925-169J-51PT, a smooth-bore variant that mates with less insertion force but also less retention. For a production board that gets mated once and stays, the Full Detent is the right call; for a test port that sees frequent swaps, the smooth-bore or the 500-cycle sibling may suit better.
This jack mounts at the board edge with a cutout in the PCB — the body sits partly through the board, and the shield and center contact terminate with solder directly to the board surface. The mounting type is listed as Board Edge, Cutout; Surface Mount, so the PCB footprint needs a slot or notch that matches the connector body profile. No crimp tool needed; this is a reflow or hand-solder part.
