The F516-1A7H1-21018 is an 18-position, 1.00 mm pitch FFC/FPC connector from the Aorora F516 series, terminated by solder to a surface-mount pad and actuated by a ZIF slide lock. Bottom-contact design means the FFC or FPC inserts with the contact pads facing down toward the PCB — the connector body sits 2.00 mm above the board, which clears most low-profile enclosures without a z-height conflict. Rated 0.5 A per contact at 50 V, with 1.97 µinch gold over phosphor bronze on the mating interface. That gold thickness is rated for 30 mating cycles — enough for production harness assembly and occasional field service, but not a daily-cycling application. The housing is liquid crystal polymer, UL94 V-0 rated, with a polyamide 9T actuator that is halogen-free.
How the ZIF slide lock and solder retention work together
Zero Insertion Force means the actuator is opened, the FFC is slid into the contact cavity with no force on the pads, then the slide lock is closed to clamp the cable. The slide lock on this part travels laterally — no flip-over hinge, so the actuator stays flush with the body profile in the locked position.
