At 0.50mm pitch, the connector footprint demands a tight trace-and-space capability on the PCB — typical for high-density FFC interconnects in laptops, displays, and handheld devices.
Mating and Cycle Life Considerations
With 20 mating cycles rated, this connector is intended for infrequent cable changes — think factory programming or final assembly, not field-swappable modules. The tin contact finish is cost-effective for this duty, but in corrosive or high-humidity environments, the oxide layer on tin can increase contact resistance over time; the 20-cycle rating reflects that limitation. The slide lock actuator provides positive retention once the FFC is inserted — no secondary latch needed. The ZIF mechanism means no insertion force on the cable contacts, preventing pad wear on the flex circuit.
The actuator is polyphenylene sulfide (PPS) with glass fill, also halogen-free, providing dimensional stability during reflow soldering.
