This prevents the contact beam fatigue that happens when you push a bare flex into a non-ZIF header. That matters for enclosure clearance: you need that much headroom above the PCB for the cable loop. The contacts are tin-plated phosphor bronze, rated for 20 mating cycles. Tin is a cost-effective finish, but it's not a high-cycle interface — if your application needs frequent reconnects (more than 20 insertions), you'd want a gold-plated sibling in the SFW family.
1 A per circuit — signal-level current ceiling
Each contact is rated 1 A at 100 V. That's typical for signal-level FFC/FPC interconnects — think display cables, sensor interfaces, or low-power board-to-flex links. The 1.00 mm pitch limits per-contact current more than the contact itself; at this density, the temperature rise from higher current would exceed the housing's UL94 V-0 thermoplastic limit. The glass-filled thermoplastic housing holds its shape across that span without creep.
Accepts 0.33 mm FPC — single-sided contact
This connector accepts FPC or FFC cable 0.33 mm thick, with contacts on one side only (vertical, 1-sided). The ZIF actuator clamps the cable against the contacts — no solder, no crimp.
