It uses top-contact configuration — the flex cable's conductive pads face upward when the connector is viewed from above. A flipped cable shorts the wrong row, so confirm the cable fold direction before assembly. The housing is brown PPS, glass-filled, rated UL94 V-0. The actuator is black PPS, also glass-filled. The slide-lock mechanism provides zero insertion force — the actuator slides sideways to clamp the flex, not flip up.
Mating Cycles and Contact Finish — 20 Cycles with Tin Plating
Tin plating is adequate for low-cycle applications (prototype, test fixture, or one-time assembly) but will wear through sooner than gold under repeated flex insertions. If the design requires frequent cable swaps in the field, consider a gold-plated sibling in the SFW-R series. The cable end type is tapered — the flex's insertion end is shaped to ease entry under the contact beams. The specified FFC/FPC thickness is 0.30 mm; a thicker cable will not seat fully and may damage the actuator.
Board Fit: Right-Angle SMT, 2.70 mm Height
The low profile keeps the connector within a tight z-height budget — useful in stacked-board or slim-enclosure designs. The slide lock does not require additional hold-downs during reflow; the SMT pads alone retain the connector through solder.
