SMP-FR-C19: SMP Plug for RG-178, DC to 26.5 GHz
The SMP-FR-C19 is an SMP-series plug, male pin, designed for field termination onto RG-178 coaxial cable. It covers DC to 26.5 GHz at a 50 Ohm characteristic impedance — the full bandwidth of the SMP interface. Gold plating on both the beryllium copper body and centre contact gives it the corrosion and mating-cycle life needed for repeated test or field connections over its 100-cycle rated life. The snap-on fastening provides quick, positive engagement without a coupling nut — standard for SMP blind-mate or push-on applications.
What cable does it work with?
This plug is built for RG-178 cable — the 0.072-inch diameter, 50 Ohm, PTFE-dielectric coax commonly used in tight-bend RF interconnects. The solder termination on the shield and centre conductor matches the standard RG-178 prep dimensions. The included ferrule crimps over the cable jacket for strain relief. No other cable group is listed as compatible.
Temperature and environment
The PTFE dielectric maintains stable impedance across that range, and the gold-over-beryllium copper contacts resist oxidation at the high end. The silver-coloured housing is bare beryllium copper with gold finish; no IP rating is listed, so it is not sealed against moisture ingress without added booting.
