The snap-on fastening gives a positive axial engagement without a coupling nut — useful in dense module stacks where tool access is tight.
Cable termination and assembly check
This plug is built for RG-405 (.086" semi-rigid) cable — the centre conductor and outer braid are both soldered, so the assembly needs a clean square-cut cable end and a controlled solder profile to avoid wicking into the dielectric.
Mating cycle life and gold plating
Rated for 100 mating cycles — typical for an SMP blind-mate interface where the connector is engaged a few times during module installation and then left mated. The gold plating on both the body and centre contact (gold over beryllium copper) resists corrosion and maintains consistent contact resistance across those cycles. In a production test or frequent module-swap scenario, plan for connector replacement after the cycle budget is consumed.
