For a test-bench or production-line interconnect that gets cycled daily, 100 cycles is a consumable — plan a spare. For a permanent in-system jumper that is mated once and left, 100 cycles is effectively unlimited. The gold plating on both the body and centre contacts supports the full cycle count without fretting corrosion. The snap-on retention uses a spring-loaded collet on the SMP plug side; after repeated cycles the collet loses some grip, which is why the cycle rating exists.
