SMP Barrel for 40 GHz Signal Paths
The Amphenol RF SMP-FS2A-860 is a straight SMP to SMP adapter, a female-to-female barrel that passes a 50 Ohm transmission line between two SMP plugs. Rated to 40 GHz, it carries signals through the full SMP interface bandwidth without a mode change.
The 40 GHz ceiling means this adapter supports K-band and most of the millimeter-wave spectrum through the common SMP interface — no need for a 2.92 mm or 1.85 mm transition if your system already uses SMP connectors. The 100 mating cycles are lower than what you see on precision RF connectors (typically 500+), but SMP is a blind-mate interface designed for board-to-board and module-to-module connections where the adapter is installed and maybe reconnected a few times over its service life, not cycled daily. The snap-on fastening on both ends gives a positive lock without threads — quick to engage, but the insertion force is higher than a threaded SMA, so the mating half needs to be mechanically supported.
