SMP Barrel Adapter for Inline RF Paths
The Amphenol RF SMP-FS2A-990 is a straight SMP-to-SMP adapter — a female-to-female barrel that joins two SMP plug interfaces end-to-end. This adapter is a free-hanging inline component with no panel or PCB mount — it floats in the cable run, so the installer provides strain relief on both sides.
The 26.5 GHz max frequency means the adapter is characterised through the full SMP operating band; above that frequency the barrel geometry starts to resonate and insertion loss climbs. For a 100 mating-cycle life, the gold-plated BeCu centre contacts and snap-on retention are typical of SMP blind-mate interfaces — not a high-wear design, so factor in replacement for test-fixture duty where connectors are mated daily.
