Rated for 1000 mating cycles, this jack doubles the 500-cycle rating of the SMP-MSSB-PCS bulk-pack sibling. The delta comes from the gold-over-brass centre contact and the gold-plated brass body — the plating stack handles the wipe without exposing base metal. For a depot-replaceable module or a test-port that sees frequent reconnects, the cycle-life headroom reduces the field-replacement cost over the product's service life.
Smooth Bore vs Limited Detent — Selection Note
The SMP-MSSB-PCS15T is a smooth-bore jack. The SMP-MSLD-PCT15T is a limited-detent jack at the same 18 GHz ceiling. The smooth bore passes the retention responsibility to the mating plug; the limited detent adds a spring collet inside the jack that grips the plug's smooth bore. If the assembly sees vibration or the mating pair is not otherwise axially constrained, the limited-detent variant is the safer call. If the board stack or housing provides the axial retention, the smooth bore gives lower insertion force and extends the cycle life of the whole interconnect.
