What the 20 GHz and 1000 Cycles Mean on the Bench
The 20 GHz max frequency is the usable bandwidth before the return loss climbs — for a 50 Ohm system, that covers everything from L-band through Ku-band and into the lower Ka-band. The 1000 mating cycles is double what many SMP connectors carry; the gold-on-brass centre contact and gold body finish keep the contact resistance stable over those cycles. The Smooth Bore interface mates with standard SMP female receptacles — no detent means the insertion force stays low, which matters when you're mating a board stack or a test cable repeatedly.
