8-Position Discrete-Wire Solder Plug for Tight-Pitch Harnesses
The Hirose 3240-8P-C(50) is an 8-position plug from the 3200 series, designed for discrete-wire termination via solder. It uses an outer shroud contact style and gold-plated contacts, housed in a black body. This connector is suited for internal signal harnesses where a compact, free-hanging interconnect is needed, such as in consumer electronics or industrial control panels.
Position Count and Pitch — The BOM Fit Check
The 8-position count is the primary BOM line match. Against the 10-position 3240-10P-C(50) or the 12-position 3240-12P-TO-C(50) in the same series, the decision is purely circuit count — pitch, contact finish, and termination are identical. The 0.80mm pitch means the board footprint is fixed; you cannot drop an 8-position plug into a panel laid out for a 10-position without rewiring the harness and changing the PCB layout.
Active Production — No LTB Watch Needed
No last-time-buy or end-of-life notice is on record. For a contract manufacturer, this means the part is a stable BOM line entry — no need to qualify an alternate or stockpile for an impending phase-out.
Termination and Mounting — Solder, Free-Hanging
Cable termination is solder, and the mounting type is free-hanging (in-line). There is no board lock or press-fit feature — the connector is meant to be soldered directly to discrete wires and left as a flying lead. The single-row, 1-row layout keeps the harness narrow. Gold contact finish provides corrosion resistance for moderate mating-cycle duty in a non-sealed environment.
