Ultra-Fine Pitch Mezzanine Header
The Hirose BM28B0.6-16DP/2-0.35V(53) is a 16-position header from the BM28 series, designed for board-to-board mezzanine stacking at an extremely low 0.6mm mated height. The 0.014" (0.35mm) pitch packs 16 contacts into a dual-row footprint that demands careful board layout — trace escape between pads is tight, and a 4-layer stack-up with microvias is the typical route. Outer shroud contacts provide initial alignment during mating, protecting the fine-pitch signal pins from stubbing.
Gold Flash and Contact Duty
For applications requiring repeated reconnections, a heavier gold plating would be the better call.
Mating and Stack-Up
The 0.018" (0.46mm) height above board means the connector sits very low — the mated pair occupies almost no z-height, which is the whole point of the BM28 series. Surface-mount termination with the solder retention pads takes the shear load during mating, so the signal contacts aren't carrying mechanical stress they weren't designed for.
