Ultra-Low-Profile Mezzanine Header at 0.35mm Pitch
The Hirose BM28N0.6-6DP/2-0.35V(53) is a 6-position header from the BM28 series, designed for board-to-board stacking where z-height is the tightest constraint. The 0.014" (0.35mm) pitch packs six gold-plated contacts into a dual-row arrangement, with the contacts located on the outer shroud rather than a traditional pin field — the mating receptacle uses a corresponding outer-contact geometry. The header sits 0.018" (0.46mm) above the board surface after reflow. At that height, the solder fillet is small — the solder retention feature on the contacts helps anchor the part during reflow and provides some shear resistance against the mating force of the receptacle. Tape & Reel packaging is standard, which feeds cleanly into a high-speed pick-and-place line; the part is also available in Cut Tape for prototype runs.
Pitch and Stacking Height Drive the Fit
The 0.35mm pitch is the defining dimension for board layout — it forces tight trace routing between pads and a precise stencil aperture for solder paste volume. The 0.6mm mated stacking height means the mating receptacle must also be from the BM28 series with the same 0.6mm profile; a 0.8mm or 1.0mm receptacle will not align. Compared to the BM28N0.6-6DP/2-0.35V(51) sibling, the only difference is the packaging suffix — both carry the same pitch, height, contact finish, and 6-position count. The (53) variant ships in Tape & Reel plus Cut Tape; the (51) variant adds Digi-Reel® as an option. For a production line feeding from a reel, either works — the (53) is the more common reeled option.
