RF Signal Path — 50 Ohm, 4 GHz Ceiling
The BNC-P-3(40): This is a 50 Ohm BNC plug, male pin, rated to 4 GHz maximum frequency. Above that band the BNC interface geometry starts to mode, so keep it inside 4 GHz for a clean sweep. Silver plating gives good RF conductivity but tarnishes faster than gold in outdoor or humid environments — plan for a weatherproof wrap or sealed enclosure if this runs outside a rack. Dielectric is PTFE, which holds stable dielectric constant across temperature and frequency — no phase drift surprises in a tuned line.
Designed for cable group 3C-2V. The center conductor solders into the pin; the braid is clamped by the shield termination.
Field Life — 500 Mating Cycles
Rated for 500 mating cycles — a solid service life for a bayonet-lock BNC used in test labs, patch panels, or temporary field installs. Operating temperature range is -30°C to 60°C — fine for indoor equipment rooms and sheltered outdoor cabinets, but not for direct sun exposure on a tower or in an unventilated enclosure that exceeds 60°C.
