2-Position IDC Socket for Discrete 26 AWG Wiring
The Hirose DF1-2S-2.5R26(05) is a 2-position IDC socket from the DF1 series, designed for free-hanging (in-line) termination of discrete 26 AWG wire. It uses a feed-through body — the wire passes through the connector, allowing daisy-chain or pass-through routing without a separate junction block. The 0.098" (2.50mm) pitch keeps the footprint compact for low-circuit-count harnesses, and the tin-plated female socket contacts mate with the matching DF1 series male header pins.
Pitch, Wire Gauge, and Termination Fit
The IDC termination accepts 26 AWG discrete wire; the insulation is displaced by the contact tines during crimping, so no wire stripping is needed. The brown housing colour is a visual identifier on the harness, not a functional spec.
Tin Contacts and Feed-Through Routing
Tin-plated contacts are standard for cost-sensitive, moderate-mating-cycle applications — they oxidise over time but the wiping action during mating breaks through the oxide layer. The feed-through feature means the wire enters one side and exits the other, enabling inline pass-through or daisy-chain wiring without a separate splice. This is useful in control cabinets or appliance harnesses where space between connectors is tight.
